On a chilly Sunday evening northern West Virginia the Kingwood / Morgantown branch of the NAACP hosted its Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration at 3:00 pm at St. Paul AME church located at 61 Beechurst Ave Morgantown, WV. The event was well attended as individuals from mixed faiths joined in the celebration. This was the premier event for the area as the MLK Humanitarian Award would be given out during this momentous occasion.
The 2018 MLK Humanitarian Award recipient was long time Morgantown resident Past Master Carl Smith, of Mt. Moriah Lodge #11 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of West Virginia. Bro. Smith has served his community for more than 50 years.
